Meet Our Team

Christy counts herself blessed to be married to Andy and loves living within driving distance to an ocean. Christy serves on the stewardship team at Mission Church; her efforts are focused on helping cultivate a financially healthy church that can generously extend the love of Christ to neighbors in tangible and transformative ways. Additionally, she enjoys supporting her brothers and sisters in their efforts to develop a first fruits approach to both giving and ministry. She loves traveling with Andy, taking her dog Sadie for walks, and enjoying delicious meals with friends.

Kelly is married to Grant and together they have a son, Tyler. Kelly is a Deacon of Care for Mission Church, helping to identify and meet the needs of members in our church body. She loves hospitality and has a passion and desire for every person in our church, whether members or not, to feel welcome, seen, heard and known. She loves being outside, gardening, and being with her family at the beach.

Marla is married to Jon, and they have two wonderful, energetic boys, Isaiah and Asher. She provides administrative support for elders, staff, and deacons by assisting with calendar planning, communication, care, and logistic needs. Her desire is to come alongside and support leadership, freeing up our church leaders to be effective in the mission of making disciples who enjoy the gospel in community. In her free time, Marla enjoys reading, being outside, and attempting to keep plants alive.

Janet left her N. Ireland home to attend Bible college for one year in upstate New York thirty years ago! She married Antoine in 1999, and they have two children in college and two homeschooled. As children’s ministry co-director, Janet helps oversee Mission Kids 0-11-year-olds to ensure they are safe, delighted in, and taught the word of God. She wants others to find courage in Christ, whether their current circumstances are calm or chaotic, and desires to bring the Bible to life for any age through her teaching and writing. She loves Indian food and chai tea, a crackling fire, biographies, and any wide open spaces to walk her sweet cock-a-poo, Appa.

Paula is an artist, homegrown in Mobile, AL and raised in the Hampton roads area. Paula is married to her beloved, Daniel. In her role as a Worship and Liturgy Mentor, Paula is responsible for shepherding and creating a space for worship team members to carry out the global expression of Worship through music and words. Her desire is to see God establish a sacred, renewing space that captures the diversity of the Mission Church community and our region. She enjoys the experience of brewing coffee on a slow and quiet morning.

Michael is a native of Hampton Roads and serves as the Welcome Team Leader, where his role is to make every person feel welcome, important, and connected. His heart is to love and serve those in the local church and community. He loves sports, theology, and hip-hop.
